discovered in 2004 at the university of Manchester. GRAPHENE is the two dimensional layered sheets that compose regular graphite.  When in the form of graphene it is super strong and photovoltaic. it has applications in ceramics,solar power,supercapacitors and solid state batteries (as well as tons of other applications like extracting hydrogen from air as fuel)
